
“Take care of your body. It is the only place to live”
I noticed the vegetable seller was chewing paan for the past few days.
I buy vegetables from him on most days as they are fresh. That day I waited, pretending to check more veggies, till the time all his customers left. Then, in my limited and broken Hindi asked him “Why are you chewing paan? Do you know it's not good?
He gave me a sheepish smile and started totaling my bill.
Next day same story, except that I told him” You have a family. Why are you causing them distress? This can cause cancer.” This man( Must be in his late twenties) again murmured something and smiled, all the while chewing his paan.
On the third day, he is still chewing, but I ask no questions. I take an image from google of a person with severe mouth cancer ( a closeup shot) and show it to him. “This is what you will get if you continue”. I pay him and leave. Pictures do speak a thousand messages.
Since the day before yesterday, I did not see him chewing.
Well, after this story, we can pat ourselves for not chewing paan, but we are no different from him.The neglect of health is pretty common, though common sense dictates to take care of it.
Well, commonsense is never common, or is it?
Despite the swirls of health focus around the world today, are we conscious?

Health, my dear reader, is an everyday business, that is neglected every day
If you ponder over the lifestyles two generations back, they had no access to great healthcare, but they lived in a less polluted world not infused with plastic. The nature of jobs and less transport necessitated more physical activity.
Today,
Polluted water
Polluted soil
Polluted Air
Polluted information.
And fast-paced yet sedentary lifestyles with even more stressed minds.
Do we take care of our bodies In the true sense? Our food, and exercise many a time take a back seat. Not because it is not important for us, but because we are not conscious of it. There is always a “later time” when it can be done. The later time remains later
So that being the root cause, wouldn’t it help if we have our personal buddy just to remind us now and then, to be friendly with our body? Not to give specific advice, ( there are enough internet gurus for that) but to pop up and say ”Hey, your body needs to be nurtured”
To affirm, that healthy food and physical activity, are as necessary as customer deliveries or your business promotions
Affirmations are to pamper yourself – Your body, your mind, and your emotions.
You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to live healthily
